Digital X–Ray Technology

Dr. Akin chooses carefully which and when radiographs (x-rays) are taken. Radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes. They enable us to detect cavities in between your teeth, determine bone levels, as well as assist with determining the health of the bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, and assess damage when trauma occurs.

Dental radiographs are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. Although exposure time for dental radiographs is minimal, Dr. Akin utilizes digital imaging technology within the office to further reduce exposure to approximatley 50 percent less when compared to traditional dental radiographs. These digital images can easily be magnified to help us retrieve even more valuable, diagnostic information as well as provide better precision since we are able to view and manipulate the image on a computer monitor.

The advantages of digital imaging enables us to not only store patient images, but also quickly transfer them to the appropriate specialists or insurance companies.
